Portugal, Trâs-os-Montes. 2015. The railway tunnel 'Tunel das Fragas Mas' of the Tua railway, constructed in 1887, is part of one of the world's most spectacular tracks. A dam was completed near the town of Tua mid 2016. About 25 kilometers of the railway track and of the Tua valley are being submerged thus destroying unrivalled natural beauty. The changing micro climate is also expected to affect the nearby Douro valley, a major wine producing area as well as UNESCO World Heritage.
